James
(but you can call me Jim) Quaschnick is a central California based
freelance photographer specializing in sports and major events for promotional,
editorial and commercial uses.
Jim has had work appear in places such as
magazines, newspapers, video games, brochures, corporate publications,
media guides, major web sites, and others.
Jim discovered his passion for
photography at the early age of 10 when he received his first 35mm
camera from a family friend. At about this same time he discovered
motorcycles and grew up riding and racing motocross, eventually turning
pro at 21. He put his two passions together early on and spent
several years shooting motocross at most of the tracks around
California. He discovered that riders wanted to see
their photos right away, so (this is the late 80's) he began shooting
the races on slide film, developed the photos onsite, put the 35mm
cut slides into key chain viewers and sold them on the spot, all only a
few hours after they were shot. His business become hugely popular
and eventually started this same approach with other sports.
Now digital he still loves shooting amateur
sports and in fact started a new business in 2004 that goes back to his
roots of amateur event photography. He created All
Action Shots to fill the huge void in professional photography
at a local amateur and semi-pro level, allowing athletes and their
parents the opportunely to have professional photographs during their
games or tournaments.
